Idris Veitch Japanese Inspired African Digital Collagist

Idris Veitch is a Jamaican born digital artist. His work currently centers around digital collage, a collection of his inspiration from living in Jamaica, America and Japan. He begun his journey into his work as a computer technician in Colorado before being led to his passion for fashion in Jamaica and Japan. In 2013 he moved to Tokyo to study womenswear and menswear fashion at Esmod Tokyo. Idris Veitch is of both Jamaica and Nigerian heritage and his inquiry into his family history has blended his curiosity and methodology of cultural collaboration, blending many aspects of Jamaican, Japanese and African history into his artwork.

One of the most joyous things about making art is that it provides a safe space for me. Every new piece that I start is another opportunity to create a world that I can disappear into. I feel really fortunate to be able to take my doubts and negative feelings and turn them into something constructive.
