The Singleton x Negritude Republic: Culture, Food and Graphic Design

Created by Johannesburg based Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Artist Negritude Repubic. Negritude is a stude that creates projects that celebrate shared black heritage.

The collaboration stems from the cultural ideology of Afrocentrism and shared black heritage. The project started with conceptualization and brainstorming with the Chef and the idea of fusing, culture, design, food and Incorporating natural ingredients with elements from our heritage and creating a visual space that makes you feel like you part of an integrated Africa. The illustration are all about exploring the idea of an integrated space connecting with its roots and traditional values. Then we took the conversation about design and food, incorporating the research on both our backgrounds stories (Chef and Illustrator) and that is the journey and long creative process of crafting one’s work to breath life into Les Da Chefs menu and The Singleton cocktails.
