Ben Maty Biayenda: Authentic Depictions of Black Culture and Black Women

Maty Biayenda is a young illustrator and artist born in Namibia to French and Congolese parents. Inspired by black femininity he begun drawing black women inspired by artists like Adrian Paper and Michèle Magema. Maty’s portfolio includes intimate portraits of black women and black culture. Maty believes in the representation of people of color in art history, magazines and the media.

“It was hard to find my identity, what I have the right to do artistically, who I am. I see so much beauty in my African heritage. Africa is so rich and I felt the need to claim it in my art.”
