THE COMMUNITY
We are excited to announce the community. The idea came from all of you. We felt as though you needed more, more features, more support and overall more community. So we integrated with buddypress in order to add a social networking feature to African Digital Art. Dedicated to promoting African Digital Media, The Community is the number one place for African digital media professionals. So please take a moment and review the new features then sign up and join write away. Don’t forget to invite your friends, create your profile and also join some groups.
PROFILES
You can create your own profile that allows you to display your photo, info, blogs, websites and more.
PRIVATE MESSAGING
On the community private messaging works like internal site email. You can message people on your friends list as well as forward and reply to received messages. You will have your own individual Inbox, Sentbox, and Drafts folder. You will be notified of new messages by a new message count as well as email notifications if enabled.
FRIENDS
You can be connected to African digital artists by adding other members as a ‘friend’ and accepting friendship requests. Friends list are browsable and you can click on each friend to see more information. You can also search for members by a piece of profile imation that is also included in the members directory.
Each member has a visible list of their friends on the site. Friends lists are browsable and members can click on each friend to see more information – or add them as their own friend. Profiles are not restricted as a whole.
ACTIVITY STREAM
This component tracks your activity and friends activity so you know what others are doing on the site. It’s possible to follow activity site wide, just for your friends, or just for your groups. The activity streams features recent posts, friendships and comments.
THE WIRE
The wire is basically your own wall, this is where your friends and other members can come along and post messages for you.
FORUMS
Each group can create and manage their own forum. Group members can post and reply to topics all from within the group’s page.
GROUPS
Groups are a gathering of members, posts and forum topics. Any member can create a group. They can post any sort of content, including blog posts, images and links. Every group includes a place for group information, and the latest group news which can be kept up to date by group administrators. Each group can also create Forum topics where group members can engage in discussions. We have active groups such as the Typography Lovers, Logo Designers, African Animators and Photoshop Addicts groups.
