A side of South Africa you my have not seen before. Heavy metal band Ree-burth, Soweto trend-setters Smarteez with their colorful street savvy fashion or videogame-inspired clothing label 2bop and Afro-future-electro “limpop” music genre innovator Gazelle.

These are the featured creatives in the new Stocktown x South Africa documentary by Swedish-based directors Teddy Goitom and Benjamin Taft showing some of Cape Town & Johannesburg’s strong creative forces and putting Africa on the map.

Stocktown x South Africa premieres  on the 26th of March 2011 at CinemAfrica Film Festival in Stockholm, Sweden where ADA’s Mark Kaigwa will be reporting from all week.

The first Stocktown documentary series was produced in 2003: a collage of streetculture and urban inventions from Japan, USA, Australia and Europe. Next is an exclusive web TV-series from their travel back to their roots in Africa where they will seek out the same creative forces in Africa‘s four points of the compass.
