In case you missed it, we present the brilliant work of Tokyo-based Cameroonian born concept-car designer, Serge Mouangue. His recent project merges two cultural identities in a unique and brilliant way. His new couture brand, Wafrica, merges the patterns and textures from his home, Africa with Japanese traditional garb.  Wafrica is ” the conversation between two ancient, strong and sophisticated identities: japan and Africa. The Conversation is about the beauty of weaving strands of our stories together”

This ‘cultural cocktail’ is a great example of how African designers around the globe define and redefine their African identity. And it works well, very well.

” I pursue and observe the complexity of different values and cultural identities in search of threads to weave a fabric which is a blending of these differences” – Serge Mouangue
