Slavar is a short film by Hanna Heilborn, David Aronowitsch’s and artist Mats Johansson about young Sudanese slaves. Based on an interview made in 2003, Slavar tells the story of Abouk, 9, and Machiek, 15, who were taken by the government-sponsored militia in Sudan and used as slaves. The second film in a series of animated documentaries about children in difficult situations Slavar is powerful and inspirational. (subtitles are in French)
